I celebrated my B'day in Tallinn with a really good friend. It was so relaxing and fun. We spent few hours in the Beauty Salon and I can strongly recommend the Ilukeskus. The spa-pedicure was divine!

A little shopping, good food and sparkling wine... The perfecty recipe for ladies short break in Tallinn.

This is the best restaurant I know in Tallinn! I really recommend this one! Traditional Estonian food.

The funny thing is that I did not buy any yarn! I didn't even go to a yarn store. I did buy a knitted dress and a scarf and books but no yarn.

It's been a while... Okay, it's been too long since my last post. I'll try to fix that now.

I actually spent a knit-free summer. Well, almost. I think I knitted few rows of my cardigan and few rows of DS's jersey. But I didn't buy any yarn at all. Until this Monday. I saw this beautiful bamboo skein and I just had to buy it. So you could say that I'm back *lol* I started new Baktus with that bamboo yarn, should be nice and soft. Me like!

I've got too many ufo's atm, so I need to get those done asap. I've got so many plans, but I've put those on hold for a while. I'm always starting new projects and then I have these bags everywhere with ufo's in them. I'm trying to put a stop to this bad habit. Finish what you start, right?

Actually I was planning to do quite a bit of knitting this summer but it was way too hot in Finland. If it's + 35 degrees, you just do not want to knit. So I'm really excited about fall, I just love to knit again. Yay!

Syksy iski päälle ja reippaasti. Se tarkoittaa kaulureita, pipoja ja lapasia. Nyt on valmistunut 3 kauluria tällä ohjeella, 4 pipoa tällä ohjeella, 2 läppäpipoa tällä ohjeella ja kahdet peruslapaset. Vielä olisi oma pipo neulottavana, langaksi ostin kokeiltavaksi sandnesin duettia. Jospa se ei kutittaisi. Samasta langasta neulon esikoiselle vielä Thorpen. Kumpikin kärsimme villan kutinasta. Pitkään tauolla ollut tilkkupeittokin on saanut lisää tilkkuja. Jospa saisin sen vihdoin valmiiksi. Sitä tarvitsee kylmillä ilmoilla sohvalla teekupin kaveriksi.

Sitten alkaakin joululahjarupeama. Langoiksi olen valinnut puuvillaa, hamppua ja villaa. Enempää ei voi sanoa, jos lahjojen mahdolliset saajat käyvät täällä lukemassa. Urakkaa piisaa, eli omaa neuletakkia en pääse varmaan ennen joulua viimeistelemään.

The fall is definitely here. That means neckwarmers, hats and mittens. Now I've knitted 3 neckwarmers with this pattern, 4 hats with this pattern, 2 hats with earflaps with this pattern and 2 sets of basic mittens. I need to knit a hat for myself with sandnes duett yarn. I bought enough yarn for sons Thorpe as well. We can't wear wool, it just itches too much. Maybe 50% cotton helps. I've managed to knit some squares for my hibernating snooze afghan. I'm hiping to get it done soon as you really need an afghan on the sofa with your cup of tea.

Next it's the Christmas present knit-marathon. Yarn-wice I'll use hemp, cotton and wool. That's all I can say as I don't know who reads my blog. Quite a lot to knit so I don't think I'll be able to finish my cardigan before all the pressies are done.

The fall's here. It's so beautiful. I really like September, not so hot anymore but so colourful. Yellow leaves on the ground (but not yet everywhere). And I get fresh blackberries every morning from our garden. So delicious!

And time to knit some hats, mittens and neckwarmers. I started early this year:

My son's neckwarmer knitted with O~Wool Balance. He loves this yarn, it does not itch at all. This pattern is perfect for kids neckwarmer. Will knit another one for younger son as well.

I had a look at Twist Collectives Summer edition. I just loooveee knitted skirts even if I do not have any. I might have to knit one. Maybe this one?

FLS is finished. Just need the buttons. I cannot decide which ones to get. Maybe wooden ones?

I'm trying to continue with the Sideway Spencer. I shouldn't have left it. It's damn hard to continue afyer a while. Luckily I have loads of time, so maybe I'll finish that one as well soon. After that I will start with this one.

Someone is steeling my 5mm dpn's *lol* I'm sure I had a set of those but I cannot find them anywhere. Just when I need them. I'm knitting the sleeves for the FLS and I really need the dpn's or 30cm circ's. I think I need to do a list of my needles. I think I'll use the Ravelry card for that. I want to finish the FLS and use the cardi. I love it already.

Joku rosvoaa mun 5mm puikot *lol* Olin aivan varma, että sellaiset ovat varastossa, mutta en löydä niitä mistään. Juuri kun niitä oikeasti tarvitaan. FLS:n hihat olisi vaiheessa ja niiden kanssa 5mm sukkapuikot tai 30cm pyöröt olisi tarpeen. Nyt on pakko ottaa projektiksi puikkojen listaaminen. Taidan tehdä sen Ravelryn listauksen mukaan. Haluan saada FLS:n valmiiksi ja ottaa sen käyttöön. Takki on ihana jo nyt.

I haven't been knitting that much lately. I've been reading instead. I just can't put the book down. I bought myself Stieg Larssons Millenium books (only the first and second, I need to buy the third one tomorrow). The books are really good, I can't stop reading :)

I voluntarily quit my job so I have quite a bit time on my hands from now on. I'm jobhunting at the moment but my plan is to have a long vacation. That means that I have time to knit and read :) I got a giftvoucher from my co-workers for 50 euros and I was told that the money is for yarn so I can knit something nice for myself. I was part of the best team ever. I'm going to miss them. Now it's time for new challenges.

I'm still knitting my February Lady Sweater. Not that much left to knit so hopefully I'll finish that one next week (as I bought the Ghost Whisperer's season 3 so I have plenty of time to knit while watching JLH). I'm planning to knit a dress using Paris-yarn after the FLS. I really like the Paris-yarn, I have 3 colours in my stash; dark pink (FLS), green and brown. Maybe next I should think about off-white? Would be nice for a cardigan.

Finally I managed to download photos from the camera. How on earth that is always so "hard" to do?

Here's our Christmas window :) The tiny greenhouse got new duty for Christmas. Even my bambu got some Christmas decoration on :)

I finally frogged my Conwys. Here the yarn used as Almost like Paraphelia socks. The yarn was a pain to knit but the end result is perfect. Well, what can you expect if you have 4 separate thin threads. But the main thing is that I have really nice socks for myself :)

I've been knitting DH's scarf as well. 1,5 skeins knitted and another 1,5 skeins to go. I try to finish that one before starting another project. I have so many ufo's at the moment. My studying really disturbs my knitting.

I've been ill and that's why the blog's been silent. First I had the most terrible headache (with migraine), then fever, sore throat and upset stomach. Not very nice. I've been sleeping most of this week. I haven't done any knitting, I managed to watch Grey's Anatomy season four, though.

Today I went to do some shopping with the family and it was a bit too much. I slept 3 hours after that. I did some knitting as well today while watching evening tv. Just few rows after several days of totally ignoring the needled and yarn.

I received a lovely package from my secret pal. Yarn, chocolate, dpn's etc. I'll attach a photo as soon as I have downloaded the photos from our camera. Thank you so much, the package was perfect!

The IK Winter 2008 arrived just before Christmas and I found from the first pages the Etsy seller I've been triying to remember. I mean Karat Stix and the Stitch Gauge Rules. I just have to get one (or all the different ones...). That might make it easier to knit swatches :)

I've found really nice stuff from the Etsy. Fabrics, bag for myself, gifts for friends and prints for childrens bedroom. I just bought fabric labels for my knits from a Etsy-seller (MommieMadeIt).

The year 2008 is almost gone and the new year 2009 is just round the corner.

Uusin IK saapui juuri ennen joulua ja siellähän oli heti alkusivuilla etsimieni mittojen Etsy-sivut mainittu. Tarkoitan siis Karat Stixin myymiä mittoja. Pakkohan sellainen on saada itselle (tai kaikki mahdolliset vaihtoehdot...), jospa vaikka niiden mallitilkkujen tekeminen olisi helpompaa.

I've been so busy with Christmas stuff so I haven't been updating my blog that much. But there's the answer to question 2.

Part A:Are you doing any holiday knitting?

Actually I haven't been knitting yet. I'm planning to finish my legwarmers and the sideways spencer during this week .

We had such a good Christmas. My younger sister spent a week with us and hopefully she'll come back soon. My kids love her and do we. We visited in-laws, ate loads of delisious food and enjoyed the time off from work. And b/c I didn't receive any yarn from Santa, I decided to order some myself ;)

Last of the ham is going to be cooked tomorrow with peas. The traditional food in Finland. Peasoup with ham. I made 2 cheesecakes and one banoffee pie in the last week. All gone. My sister likes desserts as much as I do :)

Joulu oli ja meni ja ihanaa oli. Nuorin siskoni oli meillä kylässä ja toivottavasti tulee uudelleen pian. Lapset tykkäävät hänestä yli kaiken ja me myös. Jouluna käytiin anoppilassa ja appelassa, syötiin paljon maukasta ruokaa ja nautittiin vapaa-ajasta. En saanut lankaa joulupukilta, joten tilasin itselleni hieman lankaa Tapion kaupasta ;)

Kinkun viimeiset palat menee huomenna hernekeittoon. Hieman sinappia ja namnam! Tein viime viikon aikana 2 glögijuustokakkua ja yhden banoffee pien. Kaik män. Systeri on yhtä perso makealle kuin minäkin :)

Ups, I've totally forgotten to update my blog. I've been quite busy with XMas stuff and travelling. First we went to my dad's for a weekend and last weekend I visited my sisters and brother with our younger son. Now my vacation is only one day away. The whole family is on vacation till the 6th of Jan. We're staying at home and my younger sister is coming to spend the Christmas with us. The plan is to enjoy and relax, eat well, play games etc.

I'll try to finish my leg warmers and sideway spencer so I can add some photos as well ;)

I finally managed to sew some Tilda hearts. I bought a new sewing machine... It's brilliant!

I've knitted all the Christmas presents now! They just need the final touches, buttons etc. Now I'm knitting my son a pair of fingerless mittens. He's been asking for them for ages. After the mittens I'll knit a neckwarmer for him. I wonder what I'll knit for the younger son. Mittens? A hat? Or pair of socks? I need a pair of socks as well. I have the yarn for those as well. The beautiful painted yarn Janice sent me for my b'day. I think I should try to finish my cardigans as well...

Joululahjat on nyt sitten neulottu! Uupuu vain ne viimeistelyt, napit sun muut. Nyt olisi sitten puikoilla esikoisen sormettomat lapaset. Hän on niitä pyytänyt jo vaikka kuinka kauan. Kuulemma pitää olla pitkät varret ja ei saa kutittaa. Sen jälkeen olisi vuorossa esikoisen kauluri Jengasta. Mitäkähän sitä kuopukselle sitten neuloisi? Lapaset? Pipo? Sukat? Tarvisin itsekin sukat, lankakin olisi niitä varten valmiina. Janice lähetti sellaisen maalatun kappaleen, josta sukat sitten neulotaan purkamalla lankaa sukan edetessä. Neuletakitkin tosin pitäisi ehkä saada valmiiksi...

This November's been really hectic. The flu, work, studies and getting ready for Christmas. And my new doll house as well. Now I've got a little break. My first course in the Open Uni ended yesterday and the second one started last week but the first 2 weeks are rather easy ones. The flu is almost gone and work is work. Most of the Christman presents are ready, needing only final touches.

Here's our kids' advent calendar for the next few years. It only needed painting and we did that together.

Here's my doll house's kitchen. Still need quite a bit work but getting there...

I like soft non-ichy yarns; cotton, cotton mix, silk, silk mix, extra soft merinowool.
I don’t like ichy yarns, mohair etc. I have a very sensitive skin so most of the wool yarns are too ichy for me :(
2. What do you use to store your needles/hooks in?
Some are in old candy tube and some in old wine case (wooden box). Some of my DPN’s are in the needlecase I received from SP 11.

I’ve been knitting on and off for 23 years. I learned to knit in school. I would say that I'm intermediate knitter.

I love to knit cardigans, they just take a bit longer :)

My Amazon-list is rather long :)
I would like to get a copy of the Verana Winter 2008 knitting magazine though.

Menin sitten tilaamaan itselleni uuden projektin. Prokkista on mietitty pitkään ja hartaasti, nyt sitten painoin "tilaa"-nappulaa. Meille tuli tällä viikolla tämä. Eli Aurinkoinen I. Nyt on mietinnässä nimi talolle.

Sisus tulee olemaan vanhahko, suomalainen brittimäisellä vivahteella. Mutta kun olen minä, niin talossa pitää olla jotain poikkeavaa. Yläkerrassa voisi asustaa noita taikka keiju :) En vielä osaa päättää.

Olen ollut hirmu kiireinen sosiaalipsykologian ja neulomisen kanssa. Muutamat joululahjat vielä tarvitsee neulomista. Muuten alkaakin olemaan valmista lahjojen suhteen.

I ordered myself a new project. I've been planning this for ages and now I pressed the "order"-button. I received this one this week. Now it just needs a name.

I want the interior to be old-ish, Finnish with British touch. But b/c I'm me, I'd like some weirdness in the attic. Maybe a witch or a fairy :) I don't know yet.

I've been really busy with social psychology and knitting. A few Christmas presents still needs to be knitted. Otherwise the presents are almost done.

Okay, I didn't managed to survive to the 2nd round. The hat is perfect, though my DH decided to wear it so I think I need to spray it with water so it won't be too big for me. I'll post a picture soon (I'm way too lazy downloading photos from my camera).

I decided not take part of the SP 13. I'm part of the Autumn Swap in Ravelry and with the studying I just know that I wouldn't be able to plan that well the parcels. So I'll wait for the SP 14. Knowing me, I'll change my mind during the weekend... :D

Okay, I'm sharpening my needles and counting stitches. Dear target, be aware, very aware ;) I'm ready for the Hat Attack! My first time as an assassin. I just received my target so I'm just waiting for the pattern.

I just hope I won't be killed straight away.

DH told me that he needs socks, so after the HA I'll be knitting some socks. Actually kids need warm socks as well so 3 pairs of socks it is.

I need a shrug for work. I have 6 skeins of Teetee primavera, that should be enough for one. I think I'll survive the winter with primavera-shrug and sideways spencer. And if I finally manage to finish the Starsky and the Drops cardi, I should have plenty of warm things for the fall and winter.

Voi juoda iltaisin teetä kynttilöiden palaessa, ulkona upeita värejä jne. Tosin sateella olisi ihana pysyä kotona peiton alla...

Voitin Tikrun blogiarvonnassa! Sain postitse ihanan paketin, josta löytyi Pirtin Kehräämön 2 ply harmaata villalankaa, teetä ja ihana avaimenperä. Nappaan kuvan huomenna :)

This month is really hectic. Kids start their hobbies and I go back to school. I start open university course next week and it'll take one year. I just love fall as a season. You can drink tea with candles burning, gorgeous colours outside etc. Though I would like to stay indoors when it rains, under a duvet...

I won in Tikrus blog "lottery"! I received a parcel by mail, there was grey yarn by Pirtin Kehräämö, some tea and really nice keychain. I have to take a picture tomorrow :)

What is the best thing you’ve ever received in the mail/post?

I have to say my wedding ring.
I met the goldsmith in this wedding "fair" and told him what kind of ring I would like. He drew the first version on paper and it was exactly what I wanted so I asked him to make one. And b/c we lived in another city, he posted the ring. It was very exciting to receive the ring two weeks before the wedding. I have to admit that I did try it on few times :)

Okay, this is the end of my summer vacation. It's back to work on Monday. It's been fun. I went to my dad's with kids by bus. Nice adventure for the children. This week we went to Tampere by train. That trip was brilliant. We stayed in a hotel for one night (we slept like babies b/c we walked something like 6 hours during that day). We've been taking it easy. Eating berries, ice-cream and enjoying the Finnish summer.

Loma on nyt sitten tässä. Maanantaina töihin. Loma on ollut ihanan rentouttava. Ollaan oltu ja nautittu olosta. Marjoja ja herneitä sekä jädeä mennyt kauhiat määrät :) Lomareissuja tein poikien kanssa kolmestaan kaksi. Mun isän luokse bussilla ja Treelle junalla. Treella oltiin hotellissa yötä ja uni maistuikin maratonikävelyn jälkeen hyvin.

What is(are) your favorite place(s) to knit?

The corner of our sofa. That's my spot. There's a light in the corner and some knitting stuff in a basket :)

What supplies (besides yarn & needles) make the setting perfect for knitting?

Measuring tape, stitch markers, stitch holders and chibi in a clover craft case (the crocodile). I usually have some knitting magazines as well quite close by.

Vacation... time to do stuff :)

Here's some vegetable and cheese pancakes. I'll definitely make them again. Perfect breakfast and a quick snack.

Kids bedroom needs new curtains, the fabric is ready, I only have to measure it again (as I received some extra b/c of some colour mistake or something).

Gosh!
I was 22 yrs old and I was in the middle of making a huge decision. I was in a violent relationship with my ex and I was thinking about moving back to Finland. I was working in retail, selling nice clothes.

5 things on my to do list for today
1. some knitting while watching tv
2. put all the meatballs in the freezer
3. eat some strawberries
4. put the clean clothes away
5. knit some more :)

I've been knitting this jacket since July the 4th and I've used 300 grams of yarn already. Hopefully I manage to finish the jacket before I have to go back to work. I've still got 3 weeks. 2nd time cotton is perfect yarn. I absolutely love it. I might have to buy some more after this project. Berry, jade or loden, I think.

I'm getting really nervous. I've send the parcel to my pal few weeks ago and she still hasn't received it. Okay, I send it as economy and it takes a bit longer. But still. Hopefully she will receive it soon. I can't wait to read if she liked everything.

Hmmm, that's a hard one. Maybe the amount would be perfect when you could just start almost any project without a trip to the LYS. At the moment I have a bit under 20 kilos of yarn and I have plans for most of it. I usually buy yarn for a certain project. But as a woman I have to right to change my mind *grin* so I have bought the yarn for a project and then decided that I'll use it for something else.

As a kid, what did you look forward to most about summer vacation/break/holiday?

To spend a whole month with my grandparents is their summer-house in Eastern Finland. Usually a couplse of my cousins would come too. We would go fishing, swim as much as we wanted (as the summer house had its own beach), eat as much cinnamon buns as we wanted, stuff your face with strawberries etc. That was a perfect way to spend a summer vacation when you were 8-13 yrs old.

I'm rather boring :) I really like lemon iced tea. With lots and lots of ice. My second favourite summertime drink is sparkling water with ice and 2 slices of lemon.

My all year around favourite drink is Coke Zero with ice. My favourite (alcohol) drink is caipiroska (vodka, ice, lime and sugar).

Rhubarb and Strawberries / Raparperiä ja mansikkaa

That's what you can find in my garden at the moment. Rhubarb ready to picked and lots and lots of strawberry flowers. I hope we'll get nice crop this summer. Kids love strawberries and so do I :) I hope the frost didn't get all my black and red currants. It looks like we will have some blackberries this year. I'll be spending some time this Saturday in my garden.

I've been bying some yarn from fellow Ravellers...
On Tuesday I received 23 skeins of Knit Picks Telemark. I'm planning to knit Tomten jackets for DS's. For colours, I now have orange and two shades of green, I might have to search for brown as well. Nice retro colours for the fall.

Raparperiä ja mansikkaa puutarha piukassa :) Tai siis poimittavaksi raparperiä ja julmetusti mansikan kukkia. Jospa vaikka tulisi hyvä sato tänä vuonna. Muksut tykkää mansikoista ja niin kyllä tykkään minäkin :) Ja jos tuo halla ei saanutkaan kaikki herukoita. Karhunvedelmiakin näyttäisi olevan tulossa tänä vuonna. Puutarha kutsuu tänä lauantaina. Ja siis tosiaan tuo piha, ei mitään Kanerva-juttua nyt ;)

Tiistaina saapui meren takaa 23 kerää Knit Picksin Telemarkkia. Tomten takit olisi tarkoitus neuloa pojille. Nyt olisi siis oranssia ja kahta sävyä vihreää. Jos vielä ruskeaa yrittäisin metsästää. Kivat retrovärit syksylle ;)

I like soft non-ichy yarns; cotton, cotton mix, silk, silk mix, very soft merinowool.

I don’t like ichy yarns, mohair etc. I have a very sensitive skin so most wool yarns are too ichy for me :(

2. What do you use to store your needles/hooks in?
Some are in old candy tube and some in old wine case (wooden box). Some of my DPN’s are in the needlecase I received from SP 11.

I’ve been knitting on and off for 23 years. I learned to knit in school. I would say that I'm intermediate knitter.

Ohhoh, miten aika meneekään kiireellä. Työt ovat haudanneet minut melkein kokonaan. Siis vain melkein, koska olen ehtinyt ostamaan lankaa aikamoisia määriä *ups* On lankaa Posh Yarnista ja Wollboxista. Lisäksi sain ihanan paketin Ravelryn Spring Swapista. Kuvat tietty on kamerassa ja kamera miehen mukana reissussa. Laitan kuvia, kunhan mies kotiutuu :)

Nyt sitten ilmoittauduin Secret Pal 12. Ajattelin, jotta olisin ottanut osaa myös Ravelryn Summer Swappiin, mutta oli pakko valita vain toinen. Töitä on sen verran paljon, etten uskalla riskeerata.

Piha vaatisi huolenpitoa, vielä en ole ehtinyt sinne saakka täysillä. Tosin nurmikko tuli osaksi leikattua tänään, kukkia pitäisi huoltaa reippaasti. Etupihan kukkapenkki pitäisi nimittäin uusia kokonaan.

Lasten synttärijuhlat ovat pian ja suunnitelma tarjoamisista alkaa olemaan valmis. Yhdet lastenjuhlat ja sitten viikonlopun sukulais-ystävä-juhlat.

Ja jottei elämä kokonaan olisi työtä, niin futispelit joukkueeni kanssa ovat kerran viikossa. Treenit sitten kerran viikossa siihen päälle. Saan juosta pitkin kenttää itsekin :) Mukavaa liikuntaa!

Ups, time flies... The work load is rather overwhelming at the moment. I've still managed to buy some yarn *grin* Some Posh Yarn, some from Wollbox. I received a wonderful parcel from Ralvelrys Spring Swap as well. I have some pictures but they are still in the camera and the camera is with DH. I'll download some photos as soon as DH retusrn from his trip.

I signed up for the Secret Pal 12. I was planning to participate the Summer Swap in Ravelry as well but I didn't want to risk anything with this work load.

My garden needs attention, I havent' had a change to concentrate on that yet. Well I mowed some of the lawn today. The flowers need loving care. The front-yard needs to be planned again.

DS's B'day parties are soon and the plan about cakes etc is nearly final. A children's party and then one weekend of celebration with family-relatives-friends.

And to make sure my life isn't just about work, the football season has started with my team (team of 5 year olds... ). Games are once a week and we practise once a week. I'll get to run a round the field :) Actually it's quite fun way to excercise.

Kool Aid, Shopping, Woodland Shawl

Poikieni suosikki. Kääretorttu omenahillolla ja vaniljakreemillä. Päälle kaakaolla maustettua Flora Vispiä.

My kids love this. A Swiss roll filled with apple sauce and vanilla custard, topped with chocolate flavoured whipped cream.

Hieman kakkuaiheisia ostoksia. Kokkipuoti oli kohteena ja mukavasti jäi tarviketta mukaan.

I did some shopping in Kokkipuoti (they sell cooking, baking etc stuff).

Vihdoin uskalsin kokeilla Kool Aidia ja lankoja yhdessä. Aika kivat tulokset tuli eka kertalaiseksi.

Finally I dared to try Kool Aid with some yarn. Pretty nice colours even for a first-timer.

Chilit ja tomaatit sekä yrtit ilmoittavat keväästä :)

Chilies, tomaties and herbs let me know that the spring is here :)

Olen aivan myyty tämän langan vuoksi. Ihanan pehmeää! Rosarios 4:n bio bamboota. Aion ostaa lankaa lisää.

Kävin lapasia ja sukkia läpi hieman. Lapset tarvitsee molemmat uudet lapaset, uudet sukat ja kaulurit. Kasvavat nopsasti nuo lapsoset. Neuletakki on tulossa isommalle, pienemmän versiosta uupuu vielä se vetoketju.

I went through kids mittens and socks. They both need new mittens, new socks and neckwarmers. They grow so quickly. I'm knitting a cardi for the older one, younger one's cardi needs the zipper.

Kesäpipotkin taitaisi tulla tarpeeseen, eli katsotaan jos ehdin sellaisetkin kutomaan. Lista senkun kasvaa :)

I think kids will need summer-hats, I'll have to see if I have time to knit those as well. The to do-list keeps growing :)

Pääsiäinen meni sitten vatsataudin parissa, koko perhe sairasti. Siinä se sitten menikin. Itse sairastuin vikana ja olin vielä keskiviikon kotosalla toipumassa. Ja kun on oksutauti, niin eipä sitä tule käsitöitäkään tehtyä. Tosin sain valmiiksi ennen taudin iskemistä huivini ja pipon pienemmälle, pääkallo sellaisen. Kuvia laitan, kunhan saan kameran viriteltyä.

The Easter was spent with stomach flu. A horrible one. The whole family got it. I was the last one to get it so I managed to finish the shawl and a hat for the youngest one, skull hat that is. And with stomach flu it's quite hard to knit. I'll add some photos of the shawl and hat as soon as I manage to download the pictures from the camera.

Kohta pitäisi aloitella synttärimenuiden plänäämistä. Pojilla on kummallakin kohtapuoliin synttärit. Tilasin juuri hieman tykötarvetta Have your cake and eat it-kaupasta. 3 juhlat pidetään, eli kakkuja tulee tehtyä.

I have to start palnning birthday parties soon. Kids will have b'days in few months time. I ordered some stuff from "Have your cake and eat it"-shop. We'll have 3 parties so I'll be baking cakes.

Lankahamsterointia ja flunssaa / Yarn-hamstering, flu

Lankahamsterikuukausi on sitten kohta päättynyt ja lankaa meni 745 grammaa. Sain valmiiksi pipoja, tossuja, lapasia, kaulaliinan ja pinon tilkkuja torkkupeittoon.

Yarn-hamstering month is soon over and I managed to knit 745 grams of yarn. I knitted mittens, hats, slippers and several squares for my afghan.

Melkein koko kuukausia on mennyt flunssan parissa. Ensin lapset ja mies ja sitten minä. Itse asiassa olen vieläkin sairaslomalla. Ääni kokonaan mennyt ja lääkärin komennuksella hiljaa. Mitä tuskaa ;)

Almost the whole month has been filled with flu. First the kids and DH and then me. Actually Iäm on sick leave at the moment. I've lost my voice and the doctor ordered me to stay quiet. It's been quite "painfull" ;)

It's been a bit hectic. It's really hectic at work but I don't have to worry about any of that for a week. We're going on holiday *yippee* Sun, relaxing, familytime, beach, knitting, reading and playing with my new toy PSP :) Kids love to watch mommy play the Simpsons game :)

Kauhia kiire duunissa, mutta mä en aio miettiä moisia viikkoon. Me lähdetään etelään lomailemaan aurinkoon. Iisistiottamista, perheen kanssa oleskelua, kutomista, lukemista ja uudella lelulla pelaamista. Ostettiin PSP ja muksut tykkää katsella, kun äiti pelaa simpsoneita.

I've been knitting though. I've finished a pair of mittens and a hat and I finally managed to finish the pair of socks that have been laying a round as an UFO.

Kutomistakin on tullut harrastettua. Lapaset, pipa ja vihdoin ja viimein sain valmiiksi sukat, jotka ovat lojuneet nurkissa.

Secret pal 11, lankaa, koruja ja piparkakkuja

My Secret Pal 11 was knit two, purl two :) The scarf was confiscated by my DH. He said that he needs one and he needs one now :) So we desided to both use it. The cookies are my kids favourites, they keep asking for a handfull after their supper. Thank you Susan!

Selkä alkaa olemaan kunnossa. Tosin sain eilen pahan reaktion tulehduskipulääkkeeseen, joudun käymään lääkärissä kortisoonipiikillä. Sain lisäksi voimakkaita allergialääkkeitä. Raapimista on ollut nyt kaksi päivää. Tää ei ole kivaa. Onneksi alkaa olemaan parempi olo, ehkä huomenna on jo ihan normipäivä.

My back is a bit better. I had a bad reaction to the painkillers and I had to go to the doctors. Dr gave me an injection (cortison) and some strong antihistamine. Now I've been scraching my arms and legs for two days. Not nice, I can tell you. Luckily it's getting better so hopefully I'm okay tomorrow.

Selkä jumiutui pahasti, nyt ollaan kipulääkkeillä ja sairaslomalla tämä viikko. (Lihakset on niin jumissa, että läppärirepun kanssa hengittäminen on tuskallista.) Koneella en siis paljoa ole, kudon vähäsen ja tuijotan telkkaa. Greyn Anatomian toinen tuotantokausi on nyt katsottu. Pipoja on valmistunut monia joululahjoiksi :) Kuvia ja tekstiä lisää myöhemmin.

My back's got some tension going on. I'm now taking painkillers and I'm on sick leave till next Wednesday. (The muscles in my back just are too sore at the moment. Even breathing hurts if I need to carry my laptop in my backbag.) I'm not spending that much time on my laptop, I've been knitting a bit and watching tv. I've now seen the second season of the Grey's Anatomy. I've knitted 3 hats for Christmas presents :) I'll add some photos (and some text) later.

I'm sending the last parcel to my SP tomorrow. I wonder if she's going to like all the things I'm sending her.

Jalassa Fleurilta saadut sukat, aivan ihanat! Mukavat, pehmeät ja kauniit. Minulla on ollut tuuria matkassa kaikkien vaihtojen kanssa. Salaiselta ystävältä sain ihanat sukat, ensimmäisen Hogwartin sukkavaihdon sukat olen melkein kuluttanut puhki, kotimaisen vaihdon sukat ovat ihanat ja nyt sitten nämä. Kiitoksia!

I've got a nice pair of socks on, the ones I got from Fleur. The socks are comfy, soft and lovely. I can't believe my luck with swaps! I got a really nice pair of socks from my Secret Pal, I've nearly worn out the pair of socks I got from Hogwart sock swap (the first one), I got a really nice pair from the Finnish Secret pal and now these. Thank you!

Lunta satoi jo. Talvi in ihan tosissaan kohta täällä. Linnut pyörii takapihalla, nauttivat siemenistä. Ollaan tässä asuttu jo 4,5 vuotta ja joka talvi laitetaan linnuille ruokapaikka.

There's some snow already. The winter is nearly here. The birds are flying around the back yard enjoying the seeds. We've been living here for 4,5 years and every winter we've been feeding the birds.

Lala, thank you! I definitely try to grow the seeds in the soap box next spring.

Tarkoituksena oli kirjoitella viikonloppuna, migreeni päätti toisin. En muista milloin olisin ollut niin tokkurassa kuin olin sunnuntaina. Eilen oli töissä tuskallista olla, kun silmissä oli sumeaa ja päätä jomotti. Huonot unet ei ole hyväksi.

I was planning to update my blog during weekend, the migrane decided otherwise. I don't remember the last time I was feeling so blurry than last Sunday. Yesterday it was quite horrible at work, I couldn't see properly and head was aching. A good night sleep is very important.

Hieman tuli lankaa rullailtua. Vain 600g. Nyt on helppo aloitella uusia töitä :)

I took my swift and my winder. Only 600 grams of yarn is now nicely "rolled-up" :)

Uusi koriste etuoveen. Tiimarin rengas ja koristeet Tukholmasta. Aika hieno, vaikka itse sanonkin.

A new decoration for the front door. A ready made ring and decorations from Stockholma. Quite nice, even if I say it myself.

Pipa isommalle pojalle ja lapaset pienemmälle. Peruskauraa siis :)

A hat for the older and mittens for the younger one. Basic stuff :)

Kaiken tuon kerman alla on suklaakääretorttu, vanilja ja omena täytteellä. Piti vain hieman mennä överiksi :D

Pientä päivitystä välillä :)

I think I have the best Secret Pal ever! Look what she send me. A pair of socks, I love the colors. I mentioned that I need a knitting needle case. What does my SP do? She sews me one! I received a set of bambu dpn's, some chocolate raisins and sweets for my kids. I picked up the parcel on Friday, just before we left for a minibreak (we took the kids to my dad's before heading off to Stockholm). Thank you secret pal!

Salainen ystäväni on paras! Katsokaas mitä sain ekassa paketissa! Ihanat sukat, värit ovat tosi jees. Mainitsin aikaisemmin, että tarvisin puikoilleni säilytyspussukan. Mitäs tekee SP:ni? Hän ompelee minulle sellaisen :) Lisäksi sain bambuiset sukkapuikot, namia itselleni ja lapsille. Sain paketin perjantaina juuri ennen kuin lähdettiin minimatkalle miehen kanssa. 15 Digestive-keksiä

70 g sulaa voita

keksit muruiksi ja voi sekaan, painele vuoan pohjalle

1 tlk condensed milk

(itse keitän vesikattilassa noin 2½-3h),

avaa tölkki varovasti ja kaada toffee keksipohjan päälle

3-4 banaania, paloina toffeen päälle

250g Flora Vispiä, vaahtona koko komeuden päälle

Suklaata rouheena, nonparelle tmv koristeeksi.

I'll do the Banoffee Pie this way;

15 Digestive-biscuits+70 grams melted butter

1 can condensed milk

(I'll let the tin boil in the pan with water for 2½-3 hours)

Spread the toffee on top of the biscuit-base

3-4 bananas, sliced

on top of the toffee

250 grams low fat cream, whipped

on top of the bananas

Some chocolate or similar to decorate

Flunssa/The flu

Flunssahan se iski uudelleen :/ Olen saikulla ja se taas tarkoittaa neulomisaikaa :) Eilen lääkäri komensi lepäämään. Päätin sitten odotella miestä töistä (kuljemme samaa työmatkaa) ja menin leffaan. Kävin katsomassa uusimman Shrekin, ihan jees leffa. Mieskin on kipeänä, mutta kun oli pakko olla töissä eilen.

I've got the flu again :/ I'm on sick leave and that means a loads of knitting time :) Yesterday I went to see the doctor and he ordered me to rest. I decided to wait for DH and I went to the movies. I saw the Shrek 3, the film was okay. DH's got the flu as well but he had to work yesterday.

Tänään on kummitytön ristiäiset. Malttamattomana jo odottelen <3 Vieläkään ei tiedetä pienen neidin nimeä. Anouk-mekko on melkein valmis, napit vain uupuvat. Mekon lisäksi pieni neiti saa kuusi hopealusikkaa. 6 tänään ja sitten yksi samaa sarjaan jokaisena syntymäpäivänään. Miehen perheen tapa :)

Today is the Christening of our GD. Can't wait <3 We still don't know what her name will be. Anouk-dress is almost ready, still need to sew the buttons. That's just one of the pressies. She'll get six silver spoons today and the one spoon/fork etc for every B'day. That's a sort of a tradition in my DH's family :)

Olen katsellut erilaisia säilytyspusseja pyöröpuikoille. Tarvisin sellaisen, itse asiassa sellaisen jossa olisi tilaa myös tavispuikoille. Pitää kokeilla ensin halpiskankaasta, jos vaikka saisi itse sellaisen ommeltua.

I've been looking around internet for needle cases for circs. I definitely need one. Actually I need one for both circs and straight needles. I have to sew one from cheap cotton, see how it will work out.

Aloitin eilen Anouk-mekon kummitytölle. Tulee pinkki :)

I started the Anouk-dress yesterday for our GD (she is only 5 weeks old). The dress will be pink :)

Langatkin on suurinpiirtein laskettu. Se on se 15kg. Vuoden loppuun mennessä siis pitäisi kuluttaa 1,5kg lankaa. Pari neuletta itselleni ja se olisi siinä. Tosin nyt on alkamassa pipo&lapanen-kausi ja niitä pitäisi tässä hissuksiin alkaa kutomaan. Ainakin langat on valmiina :D

I've counted the yarns. My stash is 15 kilos. By the end of this year I need to use 1,5 kilos of yarn. Two jumpers for myself and that would be it. But now the season of hats and mittens is starting very soon and I need to knit some soon-ish. Well, at least I've got the yarn ready :D

Ajattelin sitten, että 10% tiputus tekisi hyvää omalle painolle ja lankamäärälle. Ajattelin sitten kirjata ylös lankani... Ei hyvä idea. On huomattavasti parempi, kun heittää vaan suurinpiirtein kilomäärän lankavaraston kooksi. Tarkka tieto ei ole hyväksi. Olen kartoittanut vasta alakerran kaikki langat ja yläkerran yhden laatikon. Summa on huimaava 12,3kg! Kääks! Yläkerrassa on vielä muutama laatikko täynnä lankaa, eli summa tosiaan tuosta vielä kasvaa pikkusen.

I thought that losing 10% of my weight and of my yarn stash would be a great idea. I thought that I should count all my stash... Not a good idea. It's a whole lot better when you do not know the exact amount of yarn you have in the house. I've managed to count the yarn from downstairs and one box from upstairs. The total is whopping 12,3 kilos! OMG! There are few boxes upstairs that a re full of yarn, so the total will grow a little bit.

Pitää siis tosiaan kutoa Rogue ja Wicked, niin saan langat vähenemään :)

Peruskakkupohja, välissä vadelmarahkamoussea, päällä Flora Vispiä ja vadelmia.

Basic cake with raspberryquark-mousse, topped with whipped cream (sort of cream) and raspberries.

Hogwartin sukkavaihdon eka sukka on valmis ja toinen aloitettu. Sukkamalli on omasta päästä, nimitin mallin merenneidoksi :)

I've now knitted the first socks of the Hogwarts Sock Swap Two-socks. And I've started with the second one. I'm getting there. The pattern is my own, I'm calling it "The mermaid" :)

Vietettiin eilen muutama tunti Tukholmassa. Tykkään joka kerta enemmän ja enemmän ko kaupungista. Ihanan aurinkoinen kelikin oli vielä. Ensi kuussa mennään miehen kanssa kiertelemään, sitten voisi kokeilla parit museotkin. Lasten kanssa siitä ei tule mitään, ei pienillä ole siihen kärsivällisyyttä vielä. Muutama lankakauppa voisi olla myös listalla ;)

We spent a few hours in Stockholm yesterday. A nice sunny day :) Everytime we go there I like Stockholm more and more. Luckily we are going again next month, just me and DH this time. With kids the museums are a bit of no-no, they do not have the patience yet. Next month I might have to visit some yarn shops as well ;)

I found this recipe for Baileys-cheesecake. The cake was so tasty!

Ostokseni tuli Ewalta, julmetun nopeaa palvelua. Tilasin sunnuntaina ja perjantaina oli tilaus toimitettu omaan postilaatikkoon. Tilasin siis lankoja, värjättyjä ja värjäämättömiä, hand-made-merkkejä ja sukkablokkerit (€3,50 kpl!).

I ordered some yarn from Ewa, sock blockers (€3,50 each) and some hand-made markers. Yarn is cotton mix and the colors are really nice. Can't wait knit a pair of socks for myself :)

Tällaiset merkit siis tilasin ja kuvassa kaupanpäällisiksi tullut silmukkamerkki.

Here are the markers and the freebie (stichmarker).

Nonnii, nyt on lanka vaihtosukkiin tilattuna. Suomeksi uskalla kirjoittaa, jotta lanka on tuolta saksanmaalta ja käsinvärjättyä. Oli vaihtoparinin suosikkilistalla ja koska tänne taitaa olla helpompi tuota lankaa tilata, niin laitoin tilauksen menemään. Ja pitihän sitä tilata lankaa itsellenikin :) Paikan nimi siis saksaksi "tuhat-kauniisti", luulisin.

Now I've ordered the yarn for the Hogwarts sock swap two. That's all I'm going to say, it'll be a perfect surprise ;)

I bought some yarn from Finnish version of eBay. Peaches & Cream will transform into a shawl and the off-white into a cardigan.

KTS-parini lähettämän paketin sain alkuviikosta. Juorulehdet luin lasten päiväuniaikaan heti samana päivänä ja lankaa olen hipelöinyt joka päivä :) Aivan ihanaa ja pehmeää lankaa. Ensimmäinen lankani, joka on käsin maalattu.

Kämppään tulee kaksi yhteyttä, kumpikaan ei toimi. Ärsyttävää. Surffaan kommarilla ja voin sanoa sen olevan hidasta. Toivottavasti saavat systeemit pelittämään ensi viikolla.

We have two connections in our house, either of them works at the moment. Very annoying. I'm using my communicator as a modem and it's really slow. Hopefully they'll fix the problems next week.

Harry Potter-sukkaparin toinenkin jäsen alkaa olemaan puolessa välissä. Lisäksi olen kutonut puolet IK:n Clementine Shawlettesta. Sukan jälkeen sitten se toinen puolikas ja sitten pähkäilemään seuraavaa kohdetta. Onneksi kesälomaa on vielä 4 viikkoa jäljellä :)

The other sock from the Harry Potter sock is almost ready. While knitting that sock I've been knitting the Clementine Shawlette (from IK). The first half is done and after the HP-sock I'll knit the other half. Then I can start wondering the next pattern. Luckily I've got 4 more weeks before going back to work. I love my 5 week summer holiday :)

IK:ssa oli muutama todella kiva ohje, pitäisi vain osata päättää että mistä aloittaa.

In the new IK, there was few really nice patterns. I just can't make up my mind what to knit first.

* Festive (Tykkään takista, mutta pitäisinkö sitä? I like this one but would I wear it?)

In Finland Guess bags are quite expensive. I need to ask someone from the States a huge favour. Last time I asked a huge favour, my friend packed 10 Fuzzi Bunz nappies in his suitcase :)

Pikapäivitys/A quick note

Tultiin tänään Tallinnasta, oltiin pikareissulla siellä miehen kanssa. Ihana mies, käveli mun seurassa 2,5 tuntia pitkin kauppoja, ilman narinaa. Lankaa ostin Kaubamajan liikkeestä. Ihanaa merinovilla-silkki-bambua ja sitten ihan perus merinovillaa.

Got back from Tallinn, Estonia. Just a quick break, we left yesterday and got back today. Me and DH spend some quality time together. Bless him, he walked around the shops with me for 2,5 hours and didn't complain at all. I bought some yarn, unbelievable soft merinowool-silk-bambu and some merinowool.

Tallinnassa tajusin, ettei mulla ole teepannua. Jotenka heti, kun muksut olivat pedeissään unessa, surffasin amazon.co.uk:n sivuille sitä tilaamaan. Olipa yllätys, kun eteen tuli huomautus, etteivät toimita Suomeen. Häh? Odotanko seuraavaan kaupunkireissuun? Nääh, tilasin ihanan siniraitaisen saksalaisesta amazonista. Haluaisin ruusukuvioisen teepannun, mutta sellaista ei ollut. Tallinnastakin sellaista etsin, ilman tulosta.

I realized something while in Tallinn. I do not have a teapot. So, as soon as the kids were in bed and sleeping and surfed to Amazon.co.uk and tried to order a teapot. I was rather surprised when there was a not that they won't deliver to Finland. What to do? Wait and buy one next time I go to the big city? No, I ordered one from Amazon.de. They'll deliver to Finland without questions. I ordered this really nice blue-stripy one. I actually want one with roses, but couldn't find one. I had aquick look in Tallinn but no luck. So this blue-stripy one will do nicely.

I did order a book as well from Germany. I ordered "Lace Style: Traditional to Innovative, 21 Inspired Designs to Knit (Style)".

Here is the sock today:

The sock looks a bit funny, I stuffed it with yarn... I really need to make a sock blocker!

The pattern is Horcrux by Susan Pierce Lawrence and the yarn is SandnesGarn sisu (80%wool, 20%polyamid). I really like the pattern, I might knit one pair for myself :)
